Wenjiao Cai is a Ph.D candidate in History and East Asian Languages at Harvard University. Her research focuses on the environmental history of early modern Korea with a special interest in the transfer of agricultural and hydraulic knowledge in East Asia. Her dissertation examines how policies toward migration, agricultural expansion, and the management of natural resources contributed to developing the northern borderland in early modern Korea. Wenjiao is also working on a project regarding water management in Seoul during the Chos_n period (1392-1910).
