DESCRIPTION:<p><em>English Department Events</em><br><em>Co-sponsored by the Harvard Korea Institute</em></p><drupal-media alt="English Department" data-entity-type="media" data-entity-uuid="448ea2ba-54ff-4a30-bb58-f26f07a36038" data-view-mode="hwp_medium">&nbsp;</drupal-media><p>The English Department and Korea Institute at Harvard University&nbsp;<span>are proud to welcome comic book artist, illustrator, and adoptee activist Lisa Wool-Rim Sjöblom to campus for a series of events on creative writing, transnational adoption, activism, and mental health. Sjöblom is the author of the graphic memoir </span><em><span>Palimpsest: Documents from a Korean Adoption</span></em><span>.</span></p><p><span>Limited copies of </span><em><span>Palimpsest </span></em><span>are available for free in Barker 161 between 9am-5pm, Monday-Wednesday, for anyone who would like to read it in advance of the visit. Prof. Kelly Mee Rich will host a “book club” discussion of the graphic novel at 4:00 PM on April 3<sup>rd</sup> in the English Department Lounge on the first floor of the Barker Center.</span></p><p><strong>Autobiographical Writing and Making Comics with Trauma: a student workshop hosted by the </strong><a href="https://www.instagram.com/harvardwritingcollective/"><span><strong>CWC</strong></span></a><br><em>Tuesday April 9th 5:00-6:30 pm | Barker 133</em><br><span>Join us for a student-focused creative writing event and workshop, which will focus on the topic of autobiographical writing, making comics, and working with trauma. Sjöblom will discuss aspects of her writing process, as well as lead a few exercises that we’ll discuss together. Dinner included.</span></p><p><strong>Adoption, Activism, and Mental Health: a a session for the local adoptee community</strong><br><em>Wednesday April 10th 5:00-6:00 pm | Barker 110</em><br><span>Before the keynote, Sjöblom will lead an adoptee-focused session on the topic of Adoption,<strong> </strong>Activism, and Mental Health.
