DESCRIPTION:<p>	<em>China Lunchtime Seminar: Visiting Scholar Presentation</em></p><p>	People Involved:<br><strong>Guanglin Jin</strong>, Niigata Sangyo University, Japan</p><p>	Dr. Guanglin Jin is a professor of humanities at Niigata Sangyo University in Japan. He received his PhD in interdisciplinary cultural studies from the University of Tokyo in 1997. He has published two books (co-author) and many articles on East Asian history, culture, and language. As a visiting scholar at the Fairbank Center, he is conducting a comparative study on the formation of East Asian family names and genealogies. His own background as a Korean-Chinese educated in Japan informs this research. Prior to coming to Harvard, he was a visiting scholar at the Institute of East Asian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.</p>
