DESCRIPTION:<p>	<em>Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School Presentation; Co-sponsored by the Kim Koo Forum on Korea Current Affairs at the Korea Institute</em><br><br><strong>Hyong-O Kim</strong>, Republic of Korea’s Former Speaker of the National Assembly<br><br>Hyong-O Kim served as the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea between 2008 and 2010. He served five consecutive terms as a member of the National Assembly between 1992 and 2012 during which he served as the Floor Leader of the Grand National Party (2006 – 2007), Secretary General of the Grand National Party (2004 – 2005), Chairman of the Science, Technology, Information, and Telecommunications Committee (2001 – 2003), and Chairman of the Special Committee on Economic Reform and Unemployment (1998). In 2013, he was awarded the Mugunghwa Medal, the highest order of civil merit.
