***There were four winning photographs taken by students who spent time in Korea this past summer! Congratulations to the winners!***
The photographs are in the order listed below:
1. Architecture Category, 3d place & the Korea Institute Prize, Xing Lin, '13, "Restoration"
The photograph "Restoration" is a picture of the architecture that can be found in Bongeunsa, which is one of the most popular Buddhist temples in South Korea. Since its construction in 794, Bongeunsa has undergone many transformations, but in hopes of preserving the integrity of Korea's past and of projecting it into the future, the temple now undergoes occasional restorations. This picture truly helps promote the idea that South Korea is a modernizing country that continues to embrace its past traditions.
