Winners of the AY 2021-22 Korean Language Program Achievement Awards!

The Korean Language Program is delighted to announce the AY2021-2022 Korean Language Achievement Awards to recognize devotion and excellence in learning the Korean language and culture to the advanced level at Harvard University, Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations. With this recognition, a prize and certificate recognizing the achievement is awarded to the most outstanding students. In so doing, we hope to inspire more students in the field of Korean studies to understand the value of acquiring Korean language and cultural expertise.

Korean Language Achievement Awardees for Academic Year 2021-22:

Celina Hollmichel, ‘22; Joint Concentration in Government and East Asian Studies

Celina took 8 semesters of Korean and participated in the Remote Korean Summer School in Summer 2020 and was funded for her thesis research on Korea last summer. After graduation, Celina will focus on opportunities that have a connection to the Korean language and/or culture. After gaining some work experience, she hopes to pursue graduate studies in East Asian Studies.

Tony Bennett

’22, Human Evolutionary Biology

Tony took 6 semesters of Korean and he is a Korean Language Citation candidate. Tony will be working at Bain & Company in Boston after graduation and plans on applying to medical school next year for matriculation the following year. Tony currently doesn’t have plans to go to Korea but is looking for opportunities to do so!

Eloise Hodges

’22, Concentration in Music, Secondary in East Asian Studies

Eloise took 6 semesters of Korean and is a Korean language citation candidate. She plans to travel to Korea for the first time this summer, after graduation. She plans to apply to graduate school for her Master of Music, and will continue her Korean language studies and hopefully spend more time traveling in Korea, now that travel conditions have eased.

Kassia Love

’22, Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience, Secondary in East Asian Studies

Kassia took 6 semesters of Korean and is a Korean language citation candidate. Kassia participated in the Harvard Summer School Program in Seoul, Korea in the summer of 2019. After graduation, Kassia plans to work in a lab at Mass Eye and Ear hospital while preparing medical school applications. Kassia plans to continue studying Korean on her own time.
