The Korea Institute, Harvard University announces the 2021 Student Grant and Fellowship Awards

These Korea Institute undergraduate and graduate student awards are generously supported by the Min Young-Chul Memorial Fund, Sunshik Min Endowment for the Advancement of Korean Literature Fund, Modern Korean Economy and Society (Sanhak) Endowment Fund, SBS Endowment Fund, SBS Foundation Research Fund and anonymous donors at the Korea Institute, Harvard University.

For summer 2021, all student study and research opportunities supported by the Korea Institute were conducted remotely due to Covid-19 and travel restrictions, except as noted.

The Korean Language Program is delighted to announce the AY2020-2021 Korean Language Achievement Awards to recognize devotion and excellence in learning the Korean language and culture to the advanced level at Harvard University, Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations. With this recognition, a prize and certificate recognizing the achievement is awarded to the most outstanding students. Hear from Anne Lheeem, class of '21 in Social Anthropology, the recipient of a Korea Institute Undergraduate Summer Research Grant to Seoul, Korea during the summer of 2019. Anne shares how her first foray into ethnographic fieldwork in South Korea changed her as a researcher, scholar, and person, and how it influenced her decision to pursue graduate studies in anthropology with a focus on Korean studies, as well as, her decision to also want to pursue medicine. Inaugural 2019 New England regional Korean Speech Contest

We are very happy to share that the first New England regional Korean Speech Contest for area college students was held Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Wellesley College. The event included 22 student contestants who hailed from Boston College, Boston University, Brown University, Harvard University, MIT, and Wellesley College.
