2013 OIE International Photo Contest- Korea Institute Special Prizes for Photos of Korea

On Thursday, November 14, 2013 in the Lamont Forum Room in Lamont Library, the winners of the 10th Annual International Photo Contest were chosen. This award ceremony and reception was hosted by the Office of Career Services and the Office of International Education. The photographs are from Harvard College students who have studied, worked, interned or done research abroad in the past year. 

Two special prizes were given out by the Korea Institute for photographs taken in Korea this past summer. Congratulations to our two winners!

The photographs are in the order listed below:

1. Korea Institute Special Prize, Hursuong Vongsachang, '16, "Evening Reflections of an American Monk in Korea" Hursuong was a student on the 8 week Harvard Summer School in Seoul Program this past summer, in which they took a field trip to Songgwangsa Temple in South Jeolla Province. "This picture depicts a Buddhist monk from Georgia, US who is now studying his faith at Songgwangsa, one of the three jewel temples in Korea, having his evening meal in silence."

2. Korea Institute Prize Honorable Mention, Alexander Pong, '16, "Chopped Pig".  This photograph was taken in Seoul at a street market. Alexander did independent work/service in Seoul and Jeju City last summer.
