**Korea Institute Graduate Conference Attendance Grants AY25-26**  
  
The Korea Institute will provide small grants (up to $1000) for Harvard graduate students in any field of Korean studies in the humanities or social sciences to help defray the costs of attending scholarly conferences **where they present papers or serve as panel discussants**.   
  
\*You may apply for only one KI Conference Attendance Grant per academic year, even if the total cost is less than $1000.\*

**The KI** **will provide conference grant support for those who present a paper or serve as a panel discussant. For in-person conferences attendance, support may be requested to help cover travel, lodging, and registration fees.** **The KI does** ***not*** **have a publications subvention category of funding for graduate students, and the KI Graduate Conference Attendance Grant may** ***not*** **be used toward such costs.**

**For virtual attendance and participation, students may apply to have registration fees covered.** **Travel must follow all current Harvard travel guidance and protocols before, during and after travel.**

**APPLICATION DEADLINE:** Application must be made at least ONE MONTH in advance of the conference. Late applications *will not* be accepted. Applications submitted to the KI during conference dates or as retroactive submissions *will not* be accepted.  
  
**APPLICATION PROCESS**:

Please email <cglover@fas.harvard.edu> a complete Graduate Conference Grant application consisting of the following:

1. **Short proposal** with dates and description of conference to be attended, type of participation, description of your research, and how it relates to this conference, title of your paper being presented and an itemized budget. Please designate other sources of funding for this proposal (if applicable). Indicate name of faculty advisor supporting this proposal. \*\* In this proposal, please also describe the content/  
    arguments of your paper in one paragraph--ie: basically include an abstract, as well as, a part of this short proposal.\*\*
2. **Written acknowledgement that your paper has been accepted.** Include the paper/conference acceptance email/letter in your KI application.
3. **Letter from faculty advisor** supporting the proposal (Advisor may email support letter directly to <cglover@fas.harvard.edu>) Please let me know whom will be writing your support email and if you've requested this support email/letter yet.
4. **Curriculum vitae – include:**

- **citizenship; If you are a U.S. Permanent Resident, please state this.**
- **current/permanent address, telephone number(s), email address**
- **academic department; field of study; and year of graduate study (G Year)**

5\. **List the Conferences you have attended in the past two years, as well as, list what KI Graduate Conference Grants you have received in past years** IE: List the Conference Name, year and how much were you awarded from the KI

Due to Harvard financial policy, to receive payment, ***after*** you return from the conference you attended, please email the KI Conference Grant Recipient Form (emailed along with your award letter) AND all travel/registration receipts to [cglover@fas.harvard.edu ](mailto:cglover@fas.harvard.edu). Payment will be processed only after you return *and* by turning in both the KI Grant Recipient Form and receipts.  
  
You must inform the Institute if you receive any other award for this proposal after you submit this application.

 Should your travel or conference attendance plans change, the Korea Institute reserves the right to adjust the award.
