2018 Student Conference DPRK; co-sponsored by the Council of Korean Americans, the Young-Chul Min Memorial Fund at the Korea Institute, Harvard University Asia Center, and the Korea Economic Institute

Harvard Medical School Korean Student Society, the North Korea Study Group, a student organization at Harvard Kennedy School, and Harvard Chan North Korea Public Health Student Club and Harvard Chan Student Club for International Health Care Systems are organizing an all-day conference titled "Peace on the Korean Peninsula: The Health and Humanitarian Approaches."

Peace on the Korean Peninsula has been a long sought after goal. This conference will introduce the health and humanitarian approaches to engagement with the DPRK that have been taking place over the past twenty years. In the wake of political tensions, it is often these aid groups that are the only means of connection with communities in the DPRK. It will highlight the lessons to be learned from the professional aid workers as they navigated the politicization of aid.

The conference will feature eminent former scholars and humanitarians whose valuable insights on North Korea are worth sharing. To ensure honest and constructive discussions, the conference will be off-the-record while attendees can freely take part in Q&A after each speaker session. Only a select number of preapproved jounalists will be allowed to cover the event.

The event is sponsored by the Council of Korean Americans, the Young-Chul Min Memorial Fund at the Korea Institute, Harvard University, Harvard University Asia Center, the Korea Economic Institute, The Association of Korean American Medical Graduates, the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, and the Institute for Corean-American Studies. Engage Korea is providing consulting support for the itinerary and logistics.
